A True Story...

We often say in the office, that when the chemistry is right, everything else flies out of the window. This was never truer than when Liz Fogarty, who founded Attractive Partners, interviewed a super looking, tall, blonde lady with a fantastic personality, a smoking habit and two small children.

"She told me she didn’t care what the man looked like as long as he was tall, funny and would love her children. A few days later I interviewed a man who looked a little like Danny de Vito (no disrespect Danny!). For a few minutes I wondered how I was going to tell him that I wouldn’t be able to help him - I didn’t want to take his money under false pretences and I couldn’t think of any of our clients who would want to meet him. However, after about ten minutes I began to feel that I could spend the rest of my life with this man. He was really genuine, very funny, intelligent and sophisticated. He knew he would have to meet women taller than himself but said she must be good fun, a non smoker and have no children. Don’t ask me why, but throughout the interview, I kept thinking of the tall blonde lady with the children.

When I returned home I phoned her and told her she would think I was mad but I had this gut feeling about these two. She was a good sport and went along with it - and the rest is history. They have been happily married ever since! She gave up smoking and he loved her children. That story is absolutely true and I often use it to illustrate how it can pay to be a little open-minded!"
